Isle of Capri Casinos Shifts Casino to New Land-Based Premises
The Isle of Capri Casinos recently announced that it will be opening its $60 million land-based casino at its existing hotel premise in Bettendorf this June. The company will be moving its riverboat casino and re-launching it as a land based called the Isle Casino Hotel Bettendorf.
In a statement, Eric Hausler, Isle of Capri Casinos' chief executive officer said,
Our fully integrated land-based facility will provide our gaming, convention and leisure guests with an outstanding upgrade to their experience including a state-of- the art casino floor with approximately 1,000 machines and 20 tables, three new restaurants, a consolidated single hotel check-in and grand new entrance and valet drop-off all centrally located between our two hotel towers.
Hausler said that with this full range of facilities and the 500 hotel rooms, the Isle Casino Hotel Bettendorf would provide a complete entertainment and gambling experience to patrons in the Quad Cites region and the state of Iowa. The hotel is also connected to the Quad Cities Waterfront Convention Center which has over 40,000 square feet of space making it a popular choice for conventions, hosting often up to 500 events per year.
The company will be closing its riverfront operation on June 19 and opening the new facility on June 24. During these intervening five days, the casino staff would shift the casino’s entire infrastructure including games, equipment and employee offices to the new 82,000-square-feet complex located between the hotel towers in Isle Casino Hotel Bettendorf which houses the new casino.
The casino will have a 35,000 square feet gaming floor with 975 slot machines and 20 tables.
Dining facilities feature top-of- the line restaurants including Keller's American Grill Restaurant, Farmer's Pick Buffet and Keller's Express. Additional facilities include a VIP lounge and a new fitness center.
The company is planning a long celebration for the event which will begin from its opening date and end with the Fourth of July holiday. There will be a special River to Rock concert taking place on July 1 and will feature Wynonna and the Big Noise.
Jeff Reiter, Bettendorf’s economic development director, said that the opening of the new casino will likely increase tourism to the city for the Fourth of July holiday. He added that the removal of the riverboat casino had improved the views of the riverfront and the bridge, and further stated that the waterfront’s redevelopment could now be completed. Reiter also stated that the boat which hosted the casino would be removed soon after the new casino facility is made operational.
