Wynn Palace Brings A Taste Of K-pop To Macau This October

K-pop artists from South Korea will head to Macau this October to perform at a pop music festival, courtesy of casino operator Wynn Macau Ltd. The event, named “HallyuPopFest”, will take place from October 21-22 on the lawn of the Wynn Palace casino resort in Cotai district.
HallyuPopFest Comes to Macau
Launched in 2018, HallyuPopFest brings together some of the biggest names in the K-pop scene. K-pop is a form of popular music that originated in South Korea, covering various styles and genres, such as hip-hop, R&B, pop, jazz, rock, electronic dance, and many others. It first came to prominence in the 2000s and has since taken the world by storm.
Singapore played host to the first two editions of HallyuPopFest before it took a break due to the pandemic. The music festival returned in 2022 with events held in London, UK and in Sydney, Australia. The October event at Wynn Palace marks the first time that HallyuPopFest is coming to Macau, and it is expected to attract a large audience given its global popularity.
As per Wynn Macau Ltd’s announcement, the artists scheduled to perform at the upcoming festival include Cherry Bullet, H1-Key, Nine to Six, Verivery, Kard, Sam Kim, Hyolyn, Omega X, SHINee and NCT Dream. Tickets will be available starting this Friday, August 25.
Putting Macau on the Global Entertainment Map
Hosting major international music festivals such as HallyuPopFest will put Macau on the map as a top destination for international events, according to Wynn Macau Ltd’s president and vice chairman Linda Chen.
Macau is slowly becoming a K-pop destination, with South Korean girl group and global sensation Blackpink performing a couple of sold-out shows in May this year at Galaxy Arena, the largest indoor arena in Macau located at Galaxy Macau in Cotai. The casino resort is owned and operated by Galaxy Entertainment.
Hosting such events is part of efforts by Macau casino operators to boost their non-gaming offerings which was one of the requirements of their new 10-year gaming concessions that started on January 1, 2023.
The city’s six concessionaires pledged to invest up to $15 billion in total over the next 10 years, most of which will be spent on non-gaming projects and initiatives. The move is also aimed at attracting more foreign customers to Macau.
