Bellagio Sends “Project Mojave” Retail and Restaurant Expansion Papers

Summary:

  • MGM Resorts wants to expand the Bellagio hotel and casino with fresh retail, dining, and entertainment amenities.
  • The giant has sent the expansion plan called Project Mojave to Clark County.
  • Marnell Architecture of Las Vegas was responsible for designing the proposal.

MGM Resorts International operator of iconic destination resorts in several US states including Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand and Park MGM has announced a bold expansion project for Bellagio.

Under the Project Mojave name, which means “Hamakhaave” (beside the water), the proposal has already reached Clark County.

More details regarding the “exciting project” will be made public in the upcoming weeks and months, according to the company’s spokesperson.

More Dining, Retail, and Entertainment Amenities

As per Clark County planning documents, Bellagio proposes the addition of new dining, retail, and entertainment amenities running from the hotel’s main entrance, alongside the walkway to Las Vegas Boulevard.

If given the green light, the expansion will add more than a dozen brand-new retail spaces, alongside a few food and beverage outlets and viewing spaces that will overlook the iconic fountains.

The project was handed to Marnell Architecture, a Las Vegas-based, well-reputed company founded in 1992 with plenty of experience under its belt.

Marnell’s portfolio features extensive expertise in the architecture of casino hotels, as the company has worked on the Bellagio before, as well as the Aria Convention Center expansion, Rio, Wybb, and M Resort.

The new addition to Bellagio is expected to help MGM Resorts monetize the venue’s current idle space.

For instance, the Skybridge stretching from Las Vegas Boulevard to the main entrance that used to have moving walkways is not currently serving its purposes.

This means the foot traffic along the respective stretch is not fully exploited. Project Mojave plans to see that chance in the future.

In the future, if the US Casino project passes, guests can expect to be herded through a fine assortment of retail shops and at least five new food and beverage venues.

The rooftop could also contain a 10,000-square-foot venue on the rooftop, overlooking The Strip and the fountains.

The potential timeline and budget for the project have not been announced, but the over/under is $80 million.
