GamCare Set To Launch Its New Safer Gambling Standard At ICE London

Problem gambling has turned out to be one of the biggest challenges for gambling operators and regulators.

This is why GamCare, one of the world’s leading providers for advice, support, and info on problem gaming, will be using this year’s ICE London as a platform to unveil its new Safer Gambling Standard. This will give gambling operators a world class standard to aim for so that they can keep their players safe from the threat of problem gambling.

Currently, the gambling industry has Codes of Practice that set forth the requirements in ensuring that operators are keeping players protected from gambling addiction. However, GamCare’s Safer Gambling Standard has a higher threshold of responsibility with its 12 sets of principles. With this in place, players can be assured that whether they are playing online or offline, the operator who has these practices in place is looking out for them.

ICE London is the perfect platform for the launch. Top stakeholders from the global gambling industry attend the conference each year, making it a great place for GamCare to start the conversation on how to properly protect customers and oversee their welfare. According to Mike Kenward, who is Gamcare’s Development Director, that they will do a full rollout of their new standard in the conference’s Consumer Protection Zone.

Protecting The Customer

In a statement, Kenward said

If operators don’t protect their customers then their customers will go somewhere they are protected. There’s never been a better time for companies to focus on their processes and we’re hoping the industry will embrace the Safer Gambling Standard, not just because it’s the right thing to do from an ethical point of view but it’s also right from a business standpoint too.

GamCare has already trialed its new standards with several operators. The company will still proceed with an official launch at the conference so that they have the opportunity to explain the importance of these new safety standards to a global audience. GamCare also plans to highlight operators who have already implemented their new standards and how they benefited from them.

To fully benefit from these new standards, operators will need to undergo GamCare’s new accreditation process for their standards. According to Kenward, the focus is to integrate responsible gambling into the very culture of the company.

GamCare’s new standards integrate all that the company has learned by working with casino operators from around the world as well as years of research in the field. GamCare also highlighted that any money resulting from the sale of its Safer Gambling Standard program will be used to support the company’s charity.
