ICE Africa To Discuss Issues Facing South Africa’s Gambling Industry

The future of South Africa’s gambling sector looks bright as recent figures show the country’s gross gambling revenue (GGR) is set to exceed R35 billion (£1.85 billion) in 2021. This represents a 5.1 percent compound annual increase. PricewaterhouseCoopers is also predicting gambling levies and taxes will rise to R3.5 billion in 2021, at a 5.2 percent compound annual rate.

However, the auditing giant warns of not being too optimistic as South Africa’s slow economic growth may become a stumbling block for the gambling industry.

Representatives from the gaming industry throughout the African continent will come together and discuss relevant issues facing the sector at the upcoming ICE Africa event which is due to take place on Oct 24 – 25 in Sandton, South Africa. This marks the first time ICE is being held outside the UK.
