US-based casino operator Las Vegas Sands Corp. will inject more financial resources into the ongoing Phase 2 development at its Macau property, The Londoner Macao. The casino operator revealed this during its Q4 earnings presentation this week.
Phase 2 works at the Cotai casino resort now entail a total investment of US$1.2 billion, up from the initially announced US$1.0 billion.
Londoner Macao Phase 2 to Focus on Hotel Renovations
Las Vegas Sands Corp’s Macau subsidiary, Sands China Ltd, is currently managing the redevelopment of the Cotai property which was originally launched as Sands Cotai Central in April 2012. The casino resort officially rebranded as The Londoner Macao in 2021 when the first phase of the British-themed casino complex opened to the public.
Phase 2 of the transformation commenced in November 2023 with an initial cost of $1.0 billion. That has now gone up to $1.2 billion, with renovation works expected to be “substantially completed” in time for the 2025 Chinese New Year, according to Las Vegas Sands.
Providing further details on the Phase 2 development, the company unveiled that The Londoner Macao will feature new attractions, as well as additional dining, retail, and entertainment offerings.
This year, the operator is expecting to see major progress on the renovation of the Sheraton Hotel which is likely to be completed in the first quarter of 2025, according to Sands China’s newly-appointed CEO and president, Grant Chum Kwan Lock.

Mr. Chum noted that the timeline remains tentative as they await approvals for some of the renovation works, especially on the Sheraton side of the Pacifica Casino. The company expects some disruption in the second half of the year but is confident there will be significant progress on the entire Phase 2 of The Londoner Macao by 2025.
Specifically, Phase 2 will focus on the renovation of most of the hotel inventory as well as the Sheraton side of the casino floor, Mr. Chum stated. The Conrad Hotel will also be redeveloped as part of Phase 2.
Londoner Macao’s Phase 1 opening in February 2021 included The Londoner Hotel (formerly Holiday Inn Macao), the new Crystal Palace atrium, and several interactive London-themed attractions. More facilities opened throughout the year, such as the Londoner Court, the Londoner Arena, the Suites by David Beckham, and the Houses of Parliament façade.
