Londoner Macao Set To Host New Residency Shows From September

Summary:

  • Sands China’s Londoner Macao will host residency shows featuring Emperor artists
  • The partnership will support Macau’s economic diversification strategy
  • Other casino operators in Macau signed similar deals earlier this year

Sands China Ltd will be hosting residency shows at its British-themed Londoner Macao casino resort in partnership with Hong Kong-based entertainment firm Emperor Entertainment Group.

The fresh alliance forms part of Sands China’s efforts to support the Macau government’s economic diversification strategy, according to the company’s president, Wilfred Wong Ying Wai. Other casino operators in the city also entered into similar partnerships earlier this year.

Sands China – Emperor Entertainment Partnership

Sands China stated that the residency shows produced in collaboration with Emperor Entertainment will be held at The Londoner Arena, a state-of-the-art 6,000-seat venue located at The Londoner Macao on the Cotai Strip. The arena just opened in May 2023 and has since hosted various events.

Emperor Entertainment, which is mainly involved in talent management, concert production, as well as music publishing and distribution, will bring some of its artists to Macau as part of the partnership. The initial shows will feature Hong Kong singer Hacken Lee who will perform in four concerts running from September 29 to October 2 at The Londoner Arena, Sands China said.

Other talents managed by Emperor Entertainment who may also participate in the residency shows include William Chan, Leo Ku, Hins Cheung, Joey Yung, Vincy and Nicholas Tse. The shows will be customized for each performer according to the casino operator.

Mr. Wong said its partnership with Emperor Entertainment marks the beginning of a new journey for Sands China in terms of offering world-class entertainment at its Londoner Arena venue. Wong said they are looking forward to bringing more top-tier performers to Macau to help develop its concert economy and promote the government’s diversification strategy.

Increased Focus on Non-Gaming Projects

Organizing multiple entertainment shows and events is part of Sands China’s non-gaming projects for which it would allocate MOP27.8 billion through to the end of its concession in 2032. Other operators have also embarked on similar initiatives to attract more foreign visitors.

In April, Melco Resorts and Entertainment Ltd launched a series of residency shows featuring several artists which will run for three years. More recently, Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd also signed a three-year strategic deal with Warner Music China. The partnership primarily involves the operator’s new property, the Galaxy Arena, located at Galaxy Macau on Cotai.
