Minsk To Host Russian Poker Tour From Sept. 17 – 27

The Russian Poker Tour (RPT) is about to launch one of its biggest and most popular festivals in Minsk, the capital of Belarus. The event is expected to take place at the Casino Emir from the 17th – 27th September and is expected to attract some of the best poker players in Eastern Europe.

The RPT visited Minsk back in June 2015 and were extremely happy with how the tournament turned out, especially because the 2015 World Series of Poker was taking place in Las Vegas and many European poker players had flown into Vegas to take part in the WSOP.

Tournament officials considered hosting the event in other locations including Cyprus but in the end decided that Minsk was the best location to host the Grand Final in Minsk this September.

In a statement, a representative of the RPT said

After the success of our last series in Minsk back in June, we didn’t have to think too hard about where to hold the Grand Final. We knew it had to be Minsk. Several months ago, while getting ready for the stage in Minsk, we didn’t expect such a great interest to the series, especially as the World Series of Poker were running at the same time in Las Vegas. However, we had full house every day and all 43 tables were occupied by our guests regularly.

The RPT will run for ten days and feature a number of exciting events including a $1,100 Grand Final Event which will take place between the 23rd -26th of September and $550 Main Event which runs from 17th – 21st September and tournament officials expect more than 700 players to take part.

RPT officials believe that they will have a much better turnout in September as there is no WSOP tournament to compete with and expect both celebrities and top poker players to turn up. Popular poker players like Kirill Rodionov and Andrey Patechuk are expected to take part in the Grand Final.

Some of the other exciting events to feature during this 10 day poker festival include a $300 Open-Face Chinese Poker Heads-Up Championship; $1,500 SuperStack Event, a number of Omaha poker events, the popular Under Pressure Knockout events and the usual $300 buy-in events which offer players no breaks, until they reach the final table. RPT officials expect a prize pool in excess of $1,500,000.
