Resorts Casino has now confirmed that it has also entered into an agreement with The Stars Group for a mobile and online sports betting operation.
Resorts Casino Hotel president Mark Giannantonio is thrilled to have made these deals. The deal between The Stars Group and Resort Casino Hotel has been sent to state regulators. David Rebuck who heads the Division of Gaming Enforcement said that operations can’t begin until the deal is officially approved.
There are several companies currently waiting for approval as they would like to launch sports betting services before the 2018 NFL season kicks off in September. More approvals are expected to be granted soon.

The Stars Group is the parent company of PokerStars – the biggest online poker website in the world. The Canadian based company also has a strong presence in sports betting and has robust sports betting software that Resorts Casino will leverage.

It was New Jersey’s challenge of the PASPA 1992 Act which banned sports betting that led to the federal ban being lifted by the Supreme Court in May. This has caused several states to seriously consider legalizing sports betting.
On June 14th, the Borgata casino and Monmouth Park became the first establishments in New Jersey to offer sports betting while Ocean Resort Casino began offering it on June 28th. In that two week span, Monmouth Park and Borgata combined to process an estimated $16.4 million in sports wagers. The state’s next sports betting figures will be released on August 14th
.
As it stands, Resorts Casino Hotel, Borgata, Ocean Resort, Bally’s and Harrah’s are the only five casinos that currently offer sports betting along with Monmouth Park and Meadowlands race tracks. There are a number of other operators who are waiting for their licenses to be approved.
