Wynn Macau Ltd Announces Partnership with Broadway Asia for New Resident Show

Macau casino operators continue to enter into new partnerships with entertainment and production firms in an effort to boost their non-gaming offerings in the city, and the latest to ink a deal is Wynn Macau Ltd.

The operator has announced it will work with New York-based production company Broadway Asia in creating the conceptual design for a world-class resident show to be held at the future Wynn Theater at Wynn Palace.

Boost for Macau’s Culture and Entertainment Industry

According to a press release from Wynn Macau, the strategic partnership will enable both companies to collaborate on the concept and initial development of the ground-breaking new resident show which is aimed at boosting Macau’s culture and entertainment industry.

Additionally, the show will diversify the tourism experience for international travellers, supporting the government’s “Tourism + Entertainment” cross-sector integration strategy. Linda Chen, President and Vice Chairman of the Board of Wynn Macau Ltd, said the new initiative will promote and showcase Macau as a “top-tier destination” for culture and entertainment.

Founded by Simone Genatt and Marc Routh, Broadway Asia and Broadway International Group are among the world’s largest production, management, and distribution companies of live entertainment.

Over the last two decades, the award-winning theatrical productions by both companies and their partners, including The Sound of Music, Legally Blonde, Anastasia, An American in Paris, The King and I, West Side Story and Cinderella, have been showcased in more than 60 countries across the globe,

Routh, who currently serves as Broadway Asia’s president and executive producer, said they’re very excited to embark on a new collaboration with Wynn, adding that the partnership will allow them to reach a wider audience. Routh also expressed Broadway Asia’s commitment to bringing live theatrical entertainment that resonates with people of all cultures.

Macau Govt. Sets Cap on Junkets, Collaborators

Casino operators in Macau will be allowed to do business with not more than 50 licensed gaming promoters, also known as “junkets” in 2024, according to the city’s gaming regulator, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ).

The government has also capped at 250 the number of sub-agents and collaborators for the city’s junket market in 2024.
